The Rake's Progress
Victorian Opera brings a season of Stravinksy to Arts Centre Melbourne. At the core of Igor Stravinsky’s great opera, The Rake’s Progress, is a battle between good and evil. Inspired by a series of 18th century paintings by William Hogarth, Stravinsky’s opera depicts the tumultuous journey of Tom Rakewell from man to monster.
Acclaimed Director John Bell (Bell Shakespeare) works with Music Director Richard Gill who will conduct this timeless story of love, morality and forgiveness.
The Rake’s Progress showcases strong dramatic roles in a powerful libretto by WH Auden and Chester Kallman.
