With more than 50 recordings to her credit, including ten solo albums, and multiple opera, oratorio and orchestral recordings, and her Grammy-winning Die Frau ohne Schatten with Sir Georg Solti, Sumi Jo is one of the world's most prolific opera singers.
Born in Seoul, South Korea and now living in Rome, Italy, Sumi Jo has performed in title roles with the world's most acclaimed opera companies including New York’s Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Vienna State Opera debut, Royal Opera at Covent Garden, Opéra National de Paris, Washington Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Opera Australia.
Sumi Jo has also performed with the world's greatest orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and under such conductors as Sir Georg Solti, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, James Levine, Kent Nagano, and Richard Bonynge.
