The Sound Lounge is a new pop up event space located in Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall. Arts Centre Melbourne together with Mad Heckler, will present two electronic music events in the John Truscott designed foyer of Hamer Hall as part of the opening season program.

Saturday 1 SeptemberWorld-class artist Nitin Sawhney will headline this exclusive Sound Lounge event on 1 September playing a DJ set just for Melbourne with his tabla player Aref Durvesh. Also featuring is Photek, one of the finest electronic music producers of his generation, Rupert Parkes aka Photek enjoyed considerable success throughout the 90s and into the new millennium with his own mutant breed of jungle and drum'n'bass. Local DJ Affiks & A13 will also feature in this September Sound Lounge program.

Saturday 25 August The first in this two part event series of late night, electronic music events takes place on Saturday 25th August and features both Melbourne talent as well as two Japanese acts; popular techno DJ Kazu Kimura and live experimental artist Aoki Takamasa. The Japanese flavour of the event has been specially programmed to compliment both the Sayonara and Kaeru Japanese arts projects taking place at Arts Centre Melbourne.
