Bringing together over 110 of Australia’s finest classical musicians representing over 47 of the world’s greatest orchestras including our wonderful local orchestras, to provide a totally unique, electrifyingly lush and impassioned sound showcasing Australia’s musical Jewels. This remarkable orchestra will be conducted by internationally acclaimed Maestro Zubin Mehta and will include Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Mahler’s 1st Symphony ("Titan"). Maestro Mehta has conducted the cream of the world’s celebrated orchestras and is Music Director for life of the Israel Philharmonic.
The 2013 AWO season will consist of two evening concerts in Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on 2 and 4 October at 8pm, and another special general admission event - In Conversation with Maestro Zubin Mehta* on 2 October at 6pm** offering the opportunity to hear Mehta’s “story”. The AWO concerts will be an event not to be missed. Winner: Best Orchestral Concert – ABC Limelight 2011 Awards.
*Tickets must be purchased separately for the In Conversation event at 6pm 2 October.
**It will not be possible to be seated in the same seat for the Concert and the In Conversation event.
