At Arts Centre Melbourne, we believe in the importance and power of the arts in education. We offer a broad program of live performances, workshops, tours and online resources for primary schools as well as programs for teachers.
The students who have attended previous performances have been full of wonder at the venue, the performance, the trip to the city and the diverse types of people they saw and met. This has transferred to the parents asking us for more information and making an effort to experience more things with their children.
Challenge, inspire and delight your students with an arts learning experience at Arts Centre Melbourne. From favourite books brought to life on stage, hair-raising circus acts and beautiful ballet, to composing your own original music or creating a comedy routine in hands-on workshops, there's something for everyone at Arts Centre Melbourne.
At Arts Centre Melbourne, schools have the opportunity to see a diverse range of world-class theatre in fully produced form. Many of our performances are followed by live Q&A sessions, in which students get the chance to speak directly with performers, directors, choreographers and producers.
The Channel is Arts Centre Melbourne’s world-class learning and participation venue, offering a range of creative workshops. With an expert and dedicated team of educators, The Channel provides quality cross-curricular workshops in areas including music composition, sound design, film editing, digital storytelling, scriptwriting and the science of sound.
Our outreach programs bring the teaching artist to your classroom. These programs are always connected to one of our performances and provide valuable pre-show engagement into the creative process.
Students can experience a behind-the-scenes look at Arts Centre Melbourne. Learn more about the history and cultural significance of our iconic buildings, the exhibitions and artworks in our spaces and what it means to work inside Australia’s largest performing arts centre.
All our performances are accompanied with curriculum and thematic links for teachers. Teachers’ resources offer further practical and creative activities to complement and enhance learning across the curriculum.
We are proud to support Victorian teaching associations including Drama Victoria and AMUSE. We offer professional development programs, like The Creative Curriculum, that build confidence and capacity in using the arts in the classroom.
