Intrepid explorer Emily Brown and her side-kick bunny Stanley adventure to Fairfax Studio this summer.

One evening, Emily Brown and Stanley hear a ‘Thing’ crying outside their window. He just can’t get to sleep. Join them as they venture high and low, far and wide to find the Thing’s cuddly, bedtime milk and medicine… But nothing seems to help him settle. What’s really troubling the Thing – and will anyone ever get to sleep?

A fantastic tale of bravery with a mix of colourful quests, excellent puppetry, lovely songs and a touch of magic. From the creators of The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and Snail and the Whale comes the heart-warming stage show Emily Brown and the Thing, based on the book by Cressida Cowell (author of How to Train your Dragon) and Neal Layton.

Relaxed Performance, 9 January 12:30pm
Relaxed Performances are for anyone who will benefit from a more 'relaxed environment', especially audience members with disability.  The doors to the theatre remain open, and sound and lighting cues may be adjusted.  There is a relaxed attitude to movement and noise and you can leave the auditorium if you need a break.  A designated quiet area is provided and a visual story is available to help prepare for your visit.  It describes the storyline, characters and coming to the venue, so that the experience is familiar and enjoyable.  The seating capacity of the venue may be reduced.

Auslan Interpreted Performance, 12 January 12:30pm
Auslan interpreted performances are for audiences who are Deaf and use Australian Sign Language (Auslan) as their primary means of communication. Experienced Auslan theatre interpreters stand to the side of the stage and translate what the actors are saying or singing into Auslan signing the text and dialogue live.
