The Companion Card has been developed by the Victorian Network on Recreation and Disability (VICNORD) and admits carers to shows as complimentary guests. Arts Centre Melbourne welcomes holders of this card to attend the many events on offer.
Our theatres are accessible via lifts in both the Theatres Building and Hamer Hall, and during show times we have an usher available to assist anyone with access needs to their seats. Both buildings also have multiple accessible toilet facilities. Assistance animals are welcome in all our theatres.
Assisted-listening devices for use in all seats of Arts Centre Melbourne venues (plus on Guided Tours and for meetings) are available free of charge. These devices use standard headphones or connect with hearing aids via a neck loop. Please speak to our staff when you arrive for assistance with obtaining these devices.
Braille is used in the lifts, as well as other areas of Arts Centre Melbourne. Other services including Captioning, Tactile Tours and AUSLAN interpretation are available for selected performances. Vision Australia provides Audio Description and Tactile Tours of selected performances.
Wheelchairs can be booked for use in our buildings through the Welcome Desk on (03) 9281 8298.
Arts Centre Melbourne provides age recommendations for all family performances to help you and your children get the most out of your visit. While we work closely with the creators of the performances to determine a suitable age recommendation, it's still ultimately up to you as the parent to make the final decision around suitability.
