We present programs and performances that are Relaxed, Auslan Interpreted, Audio Described, Open Captioned, Highly Visual and Wheelchair accessible. We also provide Tactile Tours, an Assistive Hearing system is available in our venues and Companion Card holders are eligible for a complimentary companion ticket.

Wheelchair Access

All our venues are wheelchair accessible from street level, with lifts operating between levels in both the Theatres building and Hamer Hall. Wheelchair spaces are available at all events, including many events at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, subject to availability. Complementary loan wheelchairs can also be booked to assist with travel throughout the building. Please call our contact centre on 1300 182 183 for assistance with booking wheelchair accessible seating/spaces or loaning a wheelchair.

All levels of the Arts Centre Melbourne car park are fully wheelchair accessible. Accessible parking bays are available on both levels.

Accessible Toilets

Please ask venue staff for the closest accessible toilet to your location. In the Theatres Building there are accessible toilets on Level 3, 5, 6 and 8. In Hamer Hall there are accessible toilets on every level.

Changing Places

A Changing Places is located on Level 3 of Hamer Hall near the south lift, designed for the exclusive use of people with disability, their families and carers. Changing Places are accessible toilets with full-sized change table, hoist system, toilet and basin.

Users are asked to bring their Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) to open this toilet. For health and safety reasons we do not provide slings. Visitors are asked to bring their own which should be compatible with the loop system.

The facility is open daily Monday to Sunday 9am – 11pm. Contact Hamer Hall Security on (03) 9281 8288 to access the facility outside Hamer Hall’s opening hours. Please contact security if a MLAK key is required. For more information about Changing Places please visit the Changing Places website.

Assistance Animals

Assistance animals are permitted into all areas of Arts Centre Melbourne. Water bowls are available on request.

Our 22 clearly marked accessible parking bays are available on both levels, all offering clear access to our theatres. Please display your valid Parking Permit for people with disability; standard rates apply. The entry for Arts Centre Melbourne’s car park is corner of Sturt and Kavanagh Streets.

Discounts for the Valet Parking service is also available for Disability Parking Permit holders.
