If the children of Melbourne joined together and made their own country – what would it be like?
The Children’s Republic of Melbourne starts from exactly that idea. What rules would there be? What values are important?
Immerse yourself in a world of politics, ethics, and amateur law-making – and literally stitch together the start of this new country with your own hands. What is more important: Unlimited Pizza or Equality for all? Help decide the laws of Melbourne’s first micro-state, and design its national flag, constitution and coat of arms. What symbols represent your idea of what a country should be?
On the last day, everyone is invited back to parade their flags and banners through the streets of Melbourne and present the constitution to the public. Will kids make better rules than adults?
Find out this summer!
