Are you researching a specific topic in the performing arts?
The Research Centre facilitates study and investigation into performing arts history by providing access to the Australian Performing Arts Collection and a large reference library. This is a valuable resource for students, professional and family historians, authors, documentary makers, designers and other arts practitioners.
Researchers can visit the Research Centre by prior appointment only on Mondays and Tuesdays between 9:30am – 4:00pm.
Our Collections Coordinator is also available by appointment to assist researchers with information retrieval. Researchers can order reproductions of photographs and documents in the Collection, subject to copyright obligations and any other restrictions.
To make an appointment, contact the Collections Coordinator on (03) 9281 8446 or make an online enquiry.
Loan requests from approved museums, galleries and cultural institutions seeking to borrow material from the Australian Performing Arts Collection or Art Collection are also facilitated through the Research Centre.
Our website currently contains online catalogue records for the majority of the Art Collection, and a selection of catalogue records for the Australian Performing Arts Collection. We continue to publish new catalogue records on a regular basis to make our collection information available to a wider audience. For material not yet online, database reports for certain collections may be available via email from the Collections Coordinator.
