Explore the sacred sites of Melbourne’s rock ’n’ roll history.

Melbourne is known for its incredible music scene, but what are the people and places that made it what it is today?

Become a music tourist of Melbourne's rich rock ’n’ roll history. Discover the past of dimly lit band rooms, untold stories from the recording studio and secrets from side-of-stage. From AC/DC to Z, hear about the revolutionary musicians who’ve shaped the scene.

Equal parts relevant and irreverent, educational and entertaining, this is a music tour like no other. With surprise stop-offs to pick up unannounced guests from Melbourne’s live music underbelly, you never know who might join us on the bus.

There are only 22 seats on this rock n roll bus, book early to secure your seat.

What happens on tour, stays on tour

This tour will take punters right across inner Melbourne to a range of historic locations including famous music venues, iconic laneways, recording studios, rehearsal spaces and important indigenous music spots.

The bus will pass current live music meccas, including The Palace and The Tote - as well as the sites of closed institutions from Crystal Ballroom to The Espy. We’ll visit famed recording studios and rehearsal spaces such as Mushroom Records, Bakehouse Studios and the Dogs in Space house. On the way we’ll swing by the iconic Chrissy Amphlett and AC/DC Lanes and the Nylex Clock sign. There will be one scheduled stop at the Corner Hotel.

Please welcome to the stage, your tour guide

The man with the mega-phone and leader of your rock 'n' roll education will be none other than Melbourne musicologist Bruce Milne.

A lifetime resident of this great city, Bruce has been involved with Triple R since its fledgling years and founded the iconic independent record store and label Au-go-go Records and now co-owns Greville Records. Bruce introduced rock bar culture to Melbourne when he established International Bar and was licensee of The Tote, as documented in the film Persecution Blues. If you’ve ever watched an Australian music documentary, chances are Bruce was in it.
