Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of a performance?

This full day program take students behind the scenes of the music world with a guided tour and open rehearsal at Melbourne Recital Centre followed by a hands-on Composition workshop at The Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne.

Melbourne Recital Centre opens the doors of the Primrose Potter Salon for open rehearsals featuring the very best of Melbourne’s musicians. This is an opportunity for your students to witness artists rehearsing new works, new programs and trying out new ideas, whilst chatting about their process. See the secret workings of the finest ensembles and take a tour of the backstage areas of the venue in this all access backstage pass.

During the Into the Music: Composition workshop at The Channel, students will discover the technology and techniques used to create the music they hear every day. This fun and engaging workshop uses ACID Music Studio to explore music and musical concepts. Using pre-set Audio Loops, students will compose a piece of music which will be made available for download after the workshop.

Melbourne Recital Centre is an acclaimed music destination combining architectural innovation and acoustic perfection within its two world-class performance spaces to showcase the best music, artists and ensembles from around the world.

The Channel @ Arts Centre Melbourne is a high-tech learning lab, world-class recording studio and vocal booth, and flexible multi-use space to develop and explore your creative side. A leader in music, sound and media technology, The Channel at Arts Centre Melbourne serves up creative workshops, community events and alternative ways to engage with the arts for schools, families and the general public.
