“Something Else” is the creative development of an improvisational comedy theatre show by inclusive youth performance group, Echo Collective.
Something Else is a project which brings together both new and experienced performers to develop and train in improvisation comedy acting techniques. Over two days at Arts Centre Melbourne, Echo Collective will develop hilarious, original interrelated stories and characters which will unfold into an unscripted fully improvised performance created in the present moment.
Echo Collective brings young people with disability and from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds together in their commitment and passion for artmaking and performing. The group is led by the participant artists, with the support from professional theatre makers from Arts Access Victoria, providing participants the opportunity to have a strong say in the direction of the group and to build skills in performance development, production and outcomes.
Winners of the Maribyrnong Inclusive Recognition Award for Best Inclusive Art Group, Echo Collective’s performance works include Voyage, The Kiln, Arts Centre Melbourne (2017), Leap, Melbourne Fringe Festival (2016), Light Up (2015), Roar Through Me, video work (2014), Night of Terrors, Phoenix Youth Centre (2014) and Boxed, 100 Story Building (2013).
