Applications have now closed for 2020

Arts Centre Melbourne would like to thank everyone who submitted an application. We received 60 applications, over this coming week Kate Neal along with Arts Centre Melbourne will be shortlisting applicants, to be notified Friday 5th June. Should you have any questions in the meantime please contact creativelearning@artscentremelbourne.com.au.

In this unprecedented time of social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic 5x5x5 successful applicants will explore the theme of Memory. A time when we remember the way life was weeks, months and decades ago; as many rediscover the slowness of the past, village life, home cooking, memories of family and friends no longer available to us, objects that have become keepsakes; but also a time when we celebrate that technology keeps us in touch with the outside world, with telecommunications maintaining human connection and home studios keep creative life alive and vital.

The five selected emerging composers aged 18-29 will each receive a $1,250 commission. Artistic Mentor and renowned composer Kate Neal will meet with composers (online) and offer advice and feedback. Final works will be professionally recorded in their home studio and presented publicly from July 2020.

For 5x5x5 an emerging composer is defined as aged between 18-29 years and in the early stages of their arts practice as a composer.
