Support workers in the performing arts

A writing-for-performance program for 15 to 18 year old women, non-binary and trans people.

Up to eight participants will be chosen, via application process, to be a part of this incredible new, year long program at Arts Centre Melbourne. In this pilot year, the New Writers Collective is focused on young writers experiencing financial barriers which make access to programs of this nature difficult.

The New Writers Collective (NWC) is an opportunity for up to 8 new writers to develop a brand new play or live-performance text which will be presented, by professional actors, in an event at Arts Centre Melbourne.

Writers will be expected to attend monthly writers’ room and masterclasses with guest playwrights. In these monthly sessions, writers will share their work and feedback whilst developing skills, expertise and confidence in writing for performance. Monthly sessions will take place in the early evening (5pm – 7pm) and refreshments will be provided.

Additionally, writers will have a chance to observe rehearsals for productions at Arts Centre Melbourne, get career development advice from established artists and Creative Producers, and receive artistic support from Arts Centre Melbourne staff.

NWC Writers also receive complimentary tickets to Arts Centre Melbourne shows and other special events.
