2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, and the MSO joins orchestras around the world in celebrating the music and impact of this great composer across their season.

The MSO’s Season Opening Gala features Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with special guests from Circa Contemporary Circus and a world premiere by Deborah Cheetham AO, and Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony will be conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy as part of the Global Pastoral Project on World Environment Day in June.

As well as the always-popular MSO at the Movies, spectacular performances will be on offer all year long featuring Melbourne’s finest musicians and world-class guest artists, such as Nicola Benedetti, Pietari Inkinen, Joyce Yang and Melbourne’s own Benjamin Northey.
