Welcome to Victorian Opera 2020 Subscriptions

From Richard Strauss to The Who, Victorian Opera delivers you its biggest season yet in 2020. It’s an eclectic wild ride sure to delight lovers of opera, musicals, and cabaret alike.

Strauss’ exhilarating opera Salome will paint the Palais Theatre blood red before the venue is transformed back into Melbourne’s rock stomping ground with the electricity of The Who’s Tommy.

Hear the World Premiere of Victorian Opera’s 23rd new Australian opera, Three Tales. An adaptation of French writer Gustave Flaubert’s Trois Contes, three composers realise these distinct works in a production starring Katie Noonan.

Three of the world’s great musicians travel to Melbourne for a one-night-only concert of Korngold’s Die tote Stadt (The Dead City): internationally renowned conductor Simone Young, soprano Marlis Petersen, and tenor Michael Schade.

Musical biographies celebrate two extraordinary women of the world with Margaret Fulton: The Musical, and Yma Sumac: The Peruvian Songbird starring Ali McGregor.

Young people discover the joy of live opera with Massenet’s charming fairy tale Cendrillon (Cinderella) and Schubert’s romantic comedy The Friends of Salamanca in its Australian premiere.
