From the song that made them to the song that says goodbye, three stellar artists share the soundtracks to their lives.
In 2010 Melbourne Festival presented an unforgettable concert in which John Cale, Meshell Ndegeocello, Dan Sultan, Rickie Lee Jones, Gurrumul Yunupingu and Sinead O'Connor each performed seven songs. The tracks were selected by the same criteria, from the song that inspired their own musical beginnings, to the song they hope to be remembered by. The event that resulted was a staggering departure from their usual repertoire while also revealing deep insights into the rich personal histories it showcased.
Once was not enough. 2019 sees a new lineup opening up their own hearts with the seven songs that soundtrack their own musical life. C. W Stoneking, Sarah Blasko and Ali Barter each perform the song they wish they'd written, the favourite song of their own, the song to share with fellow artists and more, in a concert that delves deeply into the inner lives of three of Australia's most compelling musical talents. From Stoneking's trademark dirty blues to Barter's rousing power pop to the inimitable voice of Blasko, this is a show that reveals the truth and love a life in music strives towards. Don't be left behind.
