Suitability – Years 5 – 12

Podcasting is an incredible vehicle for sharing ideas and stories – there are no limits to the world of information the podcast universe offers.

Students work on a script at school which they bring to The Channel, to be recorded and polished into a final product that can be shared with friends, family and the school community.

Students will use computers to record their voice, edit the recordings and choose sound effects and music to enhance their work. This is a great opportunity for your students to develop a practical outcome with strong links to your curriculum.

Examples of Podcasts made at The Channel by tertiary students for the Australian Music Vault are available here.

Before the workshop

Students may work in pairs and must bring a piece of writing per pair of no longer than 200 words (1 page hand-written) for the 1.5 hour workshop or 400 words (2 pages hand-written) for the 3 hour workshop. Further instructions can be found in the Teachers’ Resources.

Scripts can be fiction or non-fiction, stories or interviews, or informative pieces about a special interest topic.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss the writing task before the workshop.
