AMPA is located at Arts Centre Melbourne within Hamer Hall, at 100 St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Just across the Yarra River from Flinders Street Station. We have our own Car Park and there are multiple public transport options for getting here.
AMPA opens to the public on Thursday 11 December 2025.
AMPA is open daily during exhibition dates:
• Monday to Friday, 12pm – 7pm
• Saturday to Sunday, 10am – 7pm
Last entry is 6:30pm. Opening times may vary on public holidays. Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday. Open from 1pm Anzac Day.
When you book your tickets, available entry times will be displayed for your preferred day.
Your ticket has been issued with an arrival time. We suggest you arrive 15 minutes before your allocated time. Feel free to speak with venue staff if you do arrive before your session start time.
We recommend allowing up to 1 hour to fully explore and enjoy the exhibition. However, you’re welcome to stay longer – your visit can last from your allocated entry time until our closing at 7pm each day.

The cloakroom is located inside Hamer Hall at the St Kilda Road entrance. Look for the coat hanger icon when you arrive. Cloaking is free and available Monday to Friday from 11.45am – 7.15pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9.45am – 7.15pm. Operating times may vary on public holidays.
For your comfort and the comfort of other visitors, all large items must be left at our complimentary cloakroom before entering AMPA. We reserve the right to refuse entry until your items have been cloaked. Typical items include coats, umbrellas, and bags larger than an A4 sheet of paper.
All items left in the cloakroom are treated as lost property. Any lost items at AMPA are kept by our Safety & Security Department for 30 days. You can contact them 24 hours a day by phone on (03) 9281 8316.
Arts Centre Melbourne offers a range of bars, restaurants and cafés to enhance your visit. Choose between modern Japanese cuisine at Saké or Mediterranean flavours at Teatro, both at Hamer Hall. Alternatively, a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, coffee, sandwiches and pastries are available from our outdoor café Protagonist, located on the Theatres Building forecourt. Refreshments are also available inside of Hamer Hall in the St Kilda Road entrance during AMPA’s opening hours.
No, to protect objects in the exhibition, food and drink are not permitted in AMPA and will need to be left in our complimentary cloakroom or otherwise disposed of.
Yes, personal photography is allowed. To protect objects in the exhibition, flash photography is not permitted. Use of tripods and selfie-sticks is also prohibited. Professional photography is not permitted without the express permission of Arts Centre Melbourne. For all media enquiries please visit our Media Centre.

Yes, AMPA is fully wheelchair accessible.
Additionally, visitors can book a complimentary manual wheelchair to use for the duration of their visit to assist with travel throughout our buildings. This service is free of charge. Bookings can be made via phone on 1300 182 183 or via email at tickets@artscentremelbourne.com.au. Our team is not able to provide personal attendant services with these wheelchairs and they cannot be taken offsite.
Taxis can stop outside Hamer Hall on St Kilda Road for drop off and pick up. Departure taxis can be booked by venue staff upon request.
You can find bathrooms inside the St Kilda Road entrance of Hamer Hall. This includes an accessible and all-gender bathroom.
A Changing Places facility is located on Level 3 of Hamer Hall, accessible by lift. Please ask venue staff for assistance to access the Changing Places facility.
Yes, if you hold a valid Companion Card, you are entitled to one complimentary entry.
A Companion Card is for people with significant and permanent disability who have a lifelong need for a high level of attendant care to participate in social activities or events where an entry fee is charged. You can find more information on the Companion Card program website. Please note, a carer card is not accepted in place of a Companion Card. If you do not hold a Companion Card, you will be required to purchase a ticket.
If you book with a Companion Card that we do not have on file, please enter these details in the online purchase path or a member of our team will be in contact to verify your details. You may be requested to present your card on arrival.

Both levels of the Arts Centre Melbourne car park are wheelchair accessible and have clearly marked accessible parking bays. Please display your valid Parking Permit for people with disability; standard rates apply. Although the car park has plenty of accessible spaces, it's still best to arrive early when possible.

Yes, concession pricing is available for full-time Australian and International Students, Health Care Card Holders, MEAA Members, Pension Card Holders, Unemployed and Victorian Carer Card Holders. Please bring your valid concession card as you may be required to present it.
