The Barre, Arts Centre Melbourne’s sleek space running along the curve of the ground floor of the Theatres Building, offers a touch of luxury and hint of showmanship. It is often filled with the lively pre- and post-show buzz that takes the bar and eatery from early evening to late night…with a dash of panache!
Our modern Australian menu, with its emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients, offers both small and larger dishes to be shared and enjoyed with friends. Choose from a well-considered wine list that gives prominence to local winemakers, an exciting range of craft beers and ciders, or a distinct selection of cocktails and small-batch Australian gins and single malt whiskies from Australia and New Zealand.
With a blend of contemporary aesthetics and sculptural silhouettes, The Barre’s welcoming space, designed by Clare Cousins Architects, includes a special nod to Arts Centre Melbourne history – timber floorboards, salvaged from the Hamer Hall redevelopment, recycled into parquetry throughout the main bar.
